What to expect when dining in our tea room

If you have never "gone for tea" or been to our tea room here are some pointers which will tell you more about what to expect when visiting.

1. Reservations

Before coming to the tea shop call for reservations (717-627-1776). This is an absolute must on the weekends. We have reservations several weeks in advance, and we frequently have parties on the weekends. Look at our website to see if you which meal option you would like: luncheon (week days only), garden or high tea. If there are any food allergies please inform us on the phone. We accomodate vegetarian, and gluten free diets.

2. Check In

Our tea shop is attached to our retail store so it can be a little confusing where to go first. The answer is the retail store. There is a main desk there where the ladies hold the day's reservations. They will alert the tea room that you have arrived. You will then be seated.

3. The Courses

After being seated you will select a tea flavor. We have a seasonal list of 10-15 teas that are offered. Each person at the table has their own flavor and pot of tea. The listing has options for black, green, rooibos, and decaf teas. Your tea will steep in the pot and then you can pour it into your teacup. The tea bag is fine to stay in the pot throughout the meal, but if the tea becomes too strong, tea bag holders are provided on the table. You are more than welcome to have refills on your tea throughout the meal. Next scones are served. After this the main courses arrive to your table which have an assortment of sandwiches and desserts.

4. Photos

While we do not allow photos in the retail store, you are more than welcome to take photos in the tea room. Feel free to ask your server to take a group shot of your table.

5. Shopping

After you finish your meal most people tend to shop in the retail store. The teas you drank in the tea room are offered in the retail shop. You are also able to buy the teacup and saucer from your table (or any of the other tables).
